GAMING FOR PIXELS UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT: New Partners + Prizes Galore for Spring Slam 2017!

MARCH 24th, 2017 (WORLDWIDE): The Pixel Project, a 501(c)3 anti-Violence Against Women non-profit, is thrilled to announce the new partners and prizes for their first ever Gaming For Pixels Spring Slam. The Spring Slam is a 48-hour weekend online gaming marathon that will run from 8pm EST Friday April 7th 2017 – 8pm EST Sunday April 9th 2017. It is held in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and in aid of the Celebrity Male Role Model Pixel Reveal campaign which aims to get men and boys on board the cause to end violence against women (VAW) and raise $1 million for The Pixel Project.

The Spring Slam prizes are limited-availability goodies based on a “set and earn” model which encourages gamers to set their own fundraising goals based on the different fundraising achievement prizes available. The gamer will then have to reach or exceed said goal as quickly as possible to earn the reward(s) attached to it. Here’s an example of how it works: A gamer sets their fundraising goal at $100 when they sign up for the Spring Slam. There are 10 sets of a prize available for gamers who fulfil their $100 fundraising goal. To earn the prize set for that level, the gamer will need to raise $100 as quickly as possible before all 10 units of the prize have been claimed by other gamers.

The prizes are sponsored by Gaming For Pixels community partners Fundeavour and Studio Wumpus as well as new partners from the U.S. and Singapore: Abyssal Uncreations, Arcen Games, IMBA Interactive, Supergiant Games, and Witching Hour Studios. Thanks to their generosity, gamers worldwide will be able to win some fantastic goodies including Steam codes for some of the most innovative games today including SUMER (Studio Wumpus), MASQUERADA (Witching Hour Studios) and the full selection of Arcen games including AI WAR: FLEET COMMAND. One lucky gamer will also be able to earn a sought-after custom glitch piece by Hyacinth, co-founder of Abyssal Uncreations – a piece of image-bending digital art for their own enjoyment.

For U.S.-based gamers, award-winning Supergiant Games also has some limited edition TRANSISTOR swag including a TRANSISTOR concert poster (Glicee edition) signed and personalised by Supergiant’s art director, Jen Zee; and a collectible figure signed and personalised by Jen Zee and Supergiant’s 3D artist, Camilo Vanegas

For gamers who are budding game creators or are setting up their own studio, there is also an “expertise” prize available: up to 3 Spring Slam participants may earn a place at a 1-hour Google Hangout roundtable with the co-founders of Witching Hour Studios (the creators of the award-winning MASQUERADA) to ask questions about breaking into the gaming business.

There are also 3 participation bonuses for Spring Slam participants:

To encourage gamers to sign up for the Spring Slam, Abyssal Uncreations has created a tiny Twine game called _TRANSUBSTANCE especially for Spring Slam participants. The first 30 gamers to sign up will receive the download code for the game as long as they raise a minimum of $50 for the cause. There are only 30 copies of this game in existence.

10 Spring Slam participants will also be randomly selected to receive the download code for the soundtrack album of MR CATT courtesy of IMBA Interactive.

In addition, Fundeavour will provide 1000 bonus Gold Points (also known as GP, a virtual currency on their site) for any Fundeavour members who participate in the Spring Slam. Fundeavour is a 10,000-strong community of gamers from 22 countries who are building their careers in eSports, Youtube and livestreaming their gameplay. These Gold Points will be counted towards the total points they can earn and eventually trade in for Fundeavour rewards like Steam wallet codes, headsets and more! Gamers who are not yet Fundeavour members are welcome to sign up for Fundeavour before signing up for the Spring Slam.

The Spring Slam is part of Gaming For Pixels – The Pixel Project’s positive new initiative in collaboration with the gaming community to help end Violence Against Women (VAW), including making gaming and online spaces safe and inclusive for women and girls. Anyone who loves gaming and supports ending VAW is welcome to join the event to raise funds for the cause.
