Gaming For Pixels Spring Slam Gaming Marathon Registration Now Open!
MARCH 7th, 2017 (WORLDWIDE): The Pixel Project (www.thepixelproject.net), a 501(c)3 anti-Violence Against Women non-profit, is excited to announce that the registration period and page for their first ever Gaming For Pixels Spring Slam gaming marathon fundraiser is now open. The Spring Slam is a 48-hour weekend online gaming marathon fundraiser that will run from 8pm EST Friday April 7th 2017 – 8pm EST Sunday April 9th 2017. It is held in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and in aid of the Celebrity Male Role Model Pixel Reveal campaign which aims to get men and boys on board the cause to end violence against women (VAW) while raising US$1 million for The Pixel Project.
The Spring Slam is part of Gaming For Pixels – The Pixel Project’s positive new initiative in collaboration with the gaming community to help end VAW, including making gaming and online spaces safe and inclusive for women and girls. Anyone who loves gaming and supports ending VAW is welcome to join the event to raise funds for the cause. Participating gamers can opt to stream their gameplay or organise a private gaming session to raise funds over the Spring Slam weekend. They can also decide the number of hours they choose to play within the 48-hour period of the Spring Slam.
Gamers can sign up to take part as individuals or as part of a team. Those who prefer to make it a group effort can create their own team fundraising page during the sign-up process or they can opt to join an existing team. During registration, participants will be prompted to set up a fundraising page that is easy to customise including setting their own fundraising goal for the Spring Slam. Every participant will also be provided with a virtual anti-VAW toolkit featuring easily accessible online resources for them to learn more about violence against women; to help a domestic violence or rape victim they know; or to get help if they are victims/survivors themselves.
As a participation bonus, Fundeavour (a Gaming For Pixels partner) will provide 1000 bonus Gold Points (also known as GP, a virtual currency on their site) for any Fundeavour members who participate in the Spring Slam. Fundeavour is a 10,000-strong community of gamers from 22 countries who are building their careers in eSports, Youtube and livestreaming their gameplay. These Gold Points will be counted towards the total points they can earn and eventually trade in for Fundeavour rewards like Steam wallet codes, headsets and more! Gamers who are not yet Fundeavour members are welcome to sign up for Fundeavour before signing up for the Spring Slam.
